It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,395 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 625,391! Of these, 1,367 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 174,143! Kancheepuram has recorded 155 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 22,691, while 876 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 37,494 total cases of which 2,725 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 33,501 cases with 1,717 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 468 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 343 new cases and Salem recorded 337 new cases!
There have been 62 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,846. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 174,143 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 45,881 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,560! There have been 5,572 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 569,664. There have been 82,725 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,782,736 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
