Oct 06 - TN COVID Update: 5,017 New Cases | 71 New Deaths | Total - 630,408 Cases & 9917 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5,017 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 630,408! Of these, 1,306 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 175,484! Kancheepuram has recorded 156 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 22,851, while 886 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 37,757 total cases of which 2,629 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 33,746 cases with 1,749 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 434 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Salem registered 326 new cases and Chengalpattu recorded 283 new cases! 

There have been 71 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 9,917. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 175,484 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 45,279 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 12,929! There have been 5,548 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 575,212. There have been 81,128 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 7,863,864 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
