These definitely are testing times indeed for everybody, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic still spreading unabated! However, things are even tougher for some people with various other issues cropping up! In a sad turn of events, it has come to light that Afghanistan International cricketer Najeeb Tarakai is no more. He had been involved in a nasty car accident on October 2nd, which had left in severely injured! The 29-year-old top order batsman had undergone surgery for his injuries but seems to have not been able to recover from them and breathed his last, earlier today! The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) had tweeted earlier to inform fans of Tarakai's accident.

Some reports state that the ACB had planned to shift Tarakai to Kabul or even out of the country for treatment, from the hospital he was being treated at in Nangarhar! The news of Tarakai's passing was also put out as a tweet by the ACB. The tweet read, "ACB and Afghanistan Cricket Loving Nation mourns the heart breaking & grievous loss of its aggressive opening batsman & a very fine human being Najeeb Tarakai (29) who lost his life to tragic traffic accident leaving us all shocked!" It also added, "May Allah Shower His Mercy on him." The right-handed Tarakai had played 12 T20 Internationals and 1 One Day International for Afghanistan, in his career!

Najeeb Tarakai was a very prolific opener and top order batsman in domestic cricket. He made his international debut at the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, in 2014! Tarakai's highest score was his 90, against Ireland in a T20 international series in March, 2017! His last international appearance was against Bangladesh in September 2019! However, he last played competitive cricket in September this year, as he participated in the Shpageeza Premier League. In his First Class career, Tarakai had scored 2030 from 24 games at an average of 47.20! We pray for Najeeb Tarakai's soul to rest in peace and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family!
