TN ban on Nayan lifted!

The Producers’ Council and Nadigar Sangam haverevoked the recently-imposed ban on Nayantara. The ban waspronounced because she refused to return the advance (Rs. 20 lakhs) received for Paiya, a Karthi starrer from which she backed out. Producers Linguswamy and Subash Chandra Bose asked why they should have to pay her this huge sum when she did nothing other than wait for a project. They had offered her a compensation of Rs. 5 lakhs anddemanded that shereturn the remaining amount

Nayantara replied that she incurred heavy losses (running into crores) when she refused several lucrative film offers because she had alloted dates for Paiya. It is hardly her fault that they did not shoot on those dates, she said. The producers’ unwillingness to pay her the promised salary was the last straw and so she backed out of the project. So Nayantara argued that the producers should compensate her instead of demanding the return of the signing amount.

But now, it seems that ban pronounced by the Producers' Council and Nadigar Sangam has been effective.Yesterday, the two powerful unionshave issued a joint statement saying that the ban on Nayantara has been lifted as she has agreed to return the Rs. 20 lakhs. Nayantara, bowing to pressure from the Nadigar Sangam and the Producers' Council, reportedly returned the advance amount to Subash Chandra Bose over the weekend, following which the ban was lifted.
