The success jigsaw!

It is very difficult to pinpoint audiences' tastes and preferences regarding a movie. Sometimes, even though there is no logic in the story, the publicseems to like the mode of presentation;at other times, though the content is rich and intense, they don't approve of a specific ingredient in the narration. This applies to both small- and big-budget films belonging to different genres, films that feature popular stars or debutantes and those that are backed by big banners. The box office treatment is also influenced by the prevailing trend at that time.

How long has it been since Kollywood saw an authentichorror release? Yaavarum Nalam, starring Madhavan and Neetu Chandra and dealing with a novel horror theme, is doing well at the box office. Audiences seem to like the director's touch of including a string of contemporary gadgets to stress the actual feel. Apparently, Arundhathi, a supernatural thriller with Anushka in the lead role that got dubbed from Telugu after it had a successful run in Tollywood too is drawing a good crowd. Though Yaavarum Nalam deals with a modern treatment and Arundhathi is one about age-old superstitions, people seem to like both. Why? Want to take a wild guess?
