'Superstar' Rajinikanth shared a heartfelt statement on social media on Wednesday, October 25, about his big reunion with legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan after 33 years in the tentatively titled Thalaivar 170. He expressed his happiness at collaborating with the Hindi star in the upcoming film being directed by Jai Bhim fame T. J. Gnanavel, while also sharing a photo where both are seen smiling from ear to ear. Posting the picture with Amitabh Bachchan from the sets, Rajinikanth wrote, "After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s "Thalaivar 170" directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!" (sic)

Production on Thalaivar 170 is currently taking place in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with scenes featuring both Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan being shot. The film will showcase the two Indian cinema superstars on the same screen after their last appearance together in the blockbuster Hum (1991) in Hindi. The excitement surrounding Thalaivar 170 shot up tenfold after it was announced by the film's team earlier this month that Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan would be seen sharing the screen together once again. The first schedule of Thalaivar 170 recently wrapped in Kanyakumari after filming began in Trivandrum and was also carried out in Tirunelveli, with Rajinikanth sharing with fans that he returned to the city in Tamil Nadu after a gap of 46 years. Apart from Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, Thalaivar 170 also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan forming the core cast, with Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame VJ Rakshan, Sarpatta Parambarai actor GM Sundar, among others also making appearances in pivotal roles, and will feature songs and a background score composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander.
