Malayalam actor Vinayakan was arrested on Tuesday evening, October 24, for allegedly causing a ruckus in Ernakulam Town police station, Kochi. According to reports, the popular star arrived at the station at around 7:30 p.m. seeking a resolution to a family dispute when he lost his temper as he was allegedly in an intoxicated state. In videos that have gone viral on social media, the police are seen attempting to pacify Vinayakan, who allegedly resisted them following which a case was filed against him. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a nearby hospital for a medical examination following which he was released on bail at around 10:30 p.m.

Addressing the media, Circle Inspector of Police, Kochi, Kerala, Prathapachandran stated that a was registered against Vinayakan for creating a ruckus at the station in an inebriated state. He further added that the operations in the station had to be halted after the actor allegedly assaulted a policeman. He also informed that the Malayalam star had earlier called the police to his residence seeking their help to resolve a family dispute. The police said that Vinayakan was later released on bail at 10.30 p.m. after a mandatory medical examination. 

On the work front, Vinayakan was recently seen as the antagonist in 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Jailer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film saw the Malayalam actor play the character Varman, with his performance receiving wide appreciation from audiences and critics alike. Vinayakan will once again be seen as a villain and this time in the highly-anticipated 'Chiyaan' Vikram-starrer Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam. Billed to be an espionage action thriller, the upcoming Tamil film has been directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 24.
