Veteran actor and comedian Mayilsamy took his last breath on Sunday. The 57-year-old public figure died due to cardiac arrest at around 3.30 AM. Members from the Tamil film industry have been paying tributes to the actor since his demise who was last seen enjoying the tunes of Drums Sivamani in an event for Mahashivratri. Throughout his career, the versatile actor has done comedy roles, character roles, has been a judge in reality TV shows, etc. and was well know for collaborating with comedians Vivek and Vadivelu.

Superstar Rajinikanth arrived to pay his tributes to Mayilsamy at his residence in Saligramam where his mortal remains are kept and expressed his condolences adorning a black shirt. Rajinikanth said he and Mayilsamy had been long time friends “from the age of 23” and they have remained close though they have not acted in many films together. "He was a die hard fan of MGR and a huge Shiva devotee" said Rajinikanth remembering that discussions between them would always be about lord Shiva or MGR and not the film industry and regretted not doing many films with him. The famous south Indian actor said late actor Mayilswamy would always call him for Karthigai Deepam festival from Thiruvannamalai, feeling elated like he was watching first show of movie. He expressed regret that he could not pick up the call from the late actor last year, as he was in shooting and forgot to call him back and Now, he is no more. Rajinikanth said “because of god’s blessings, Mayilsamy who was a the Shiva devotee took his last breath on the Mahashivratri festival" that’s dedicated to lord Shiva. Superstar also sent condolences to the family of the versatile and actor and wished for their well being.

When a reporter asked if the famous actor would fulfill the last wishes of late Mayilsamy. Rajinikanth said he was informed that Mayilsamy had said to Drums Sivamani during his last moments that he wishes to see Rajinikanth performing a Paal Abishegam in the Shivan temple. Rajinikanth assured saying "I will fulfill the last wishes" and talk to Drums Sivamani about it.

Several actors from film fraternity, politicians and family members, including Kamal Haasan, Prabhu, TN Chief Minister Stalin, Minister Udhayanithi Stalin, opposition leader O Pannerselvam, Siddharth, Sathish, mourned the demise of Mayilsamy through social media and at his residence. Funeral of the 'Comedy Time' actor is set to happen today.
