"The traditional symbol of Tamil power...": Rajinikanth thanks PM Modi for "making Tamilians proud" with Sengol in the new Parliament building

Superstar rajinikanth thanks pm modi for making tamilians proud with sengol in new parliament building - Tamil Movie Cinema News

Leading Tamil actor Rajinikanth thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday saying that his government has made Tamilians everywhere proud with the decision to install 'Sengol' (scepter) in the new Parliament House in New Delhi. Taking to Twitter, the actor said, "The traditional symbol of Tamil power - the scepter - will shine in India's new parliament building. (sic)" Adding the hashtag "Tamizhan da", Rajinikanth further stated, "My sincere thanks to the honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi who made Tamilians proud. (sic)"

'Superstar', as he is lovingly called by fans, Rajinikanth's tweet had come shortly after the 'Sengol' was handed over to PM Narendra Modi by the Adheenam priests ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The Adheenams had flown down to the nation's capital yesterday and met Modi at his official residence, who also sought their blessings. Addressing the seers, PM Modi said, "I am delighted that the symbol of India's great tradition, Sengol will be installed in the new Parliament building. This Sengol will keep reminding us that we have to walk on the path of duty and remain answerable to the public." He further stated, "It would have been good if the holy Sengol would have been given its due respect after independence and given an honorable position. But this Sengol was kept on display as a walking stick in Anand Bhawan, Prayagraj. Your 'sevak' and our Govt have brought the Sengol out of Anand Bhawan."

Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of his next big film, the highly-anticipated Jailer, which is scheduled to open in theatres worldwide on August 10. The mass action entertainer being directed by Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sun Pictures banner and featuring music composed by Anirudh Ravichander is nearing the finish line in production, and fans expect full-fledged promotions to kick off soon. Rajinikanth also has in his lineup his elder daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's fourth directorial, Lal Salaam, in which he will be seen in an extended cameo as a character named Moideen Bhai. The actor had recently filmed a few portions in the upcoming cricket-based venture alongside legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth playing the lead roles, and will see Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman composing the songs and the background score. Rajinikanth is also expected to begin shooting for Lyca Productions' Thalaivar 170 under Jai Bhim fame T. J. Gnanavel's direction, which will feature music by Anirudh.
