Jailer crossed 525 crores in total gross collections on Friday, August 25, with blockbuster producer Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures making the big announcement. The film is going strong in its third week in theatres around the world and the excitement is clearly visible everywhere as cinema halls are running to packed houses and is a testimony to Rajinikanth's massive star power. Apart from performing exceptionally well in Tamil Nadu and other states in India, Jailer has once again proven that Rajinikanth enjoys a huge fan following overseas as the film recently became the highest-grosser in the iconic actor's career in the USA crossing $5 million in the box office.
Released in theatres on August 10, Jailer has been dominating ticket sales at the box office and all sights are now on how many more records are shattered and new ones get created in the days ahead. The film's success is a story of its own considering each of Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar's previous projects, Annaatthe (2021) and Beast (2022) had received mixed feedback despite going on to become commercial hits. Jailer, which had Rajinikanth headlining the film, was propelled higher with Nelson's writing and direction, Anirudh's power-packed songs and background score, along with a host of cameos and guest appearances from stars across various languages.
