Sun Pictures acquires Mappillai
Sun Pictures made an official announcement that they have bought Mappillai from the actual producer. Mappillai (a remake of the yesteryear blockbuster which starred Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role) will be directed by Suraaj. In the remake, Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush will step into Rajni's shoes. Hansika Motwani plays the heroine.
Sridevi was to�enact the role played by�Srividya in�the original, but it will now be reportedly played by Jayaprada. Suraaj and Dhanush�come together after�the hit Padikaathavan for this venture which will hit screens in 2010.
