Silambarasan TR's comeback is a story for the ages after his Maanaadu in 2021 went on to become his first-ever 100-crore film in collections and the actor followed it up in 2022 with Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu Part I: The Kindling, which as well left audiences stunned. Following the back-to-back box office successes of both films in which his performances too received tremendous acclaim, the star actor will next be seen in the highly-anticipated gangster drama, Pathu Thala, which was recently confirmed to open in cinemas worldwide on March 30.

Directed by Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame Obeli N. Krishna under K. E. Gnanavelraja's Studio Green banner and featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the plans for Simbu's Pathu Thala first single release and audio launch were revealed by popular Tamil films producer-distributor Dr. Dhananjayan Govind during an interaction with fans on Twitter Spaces on Wednesday evening, January 4. With post-production works currently underway, Dhananjayan revealed that there are plans to release the first single soon, while a grand audio launch for the film is set to take place in the first week of March. These latest Pathu Thala updates have come as big joy for fans, who are looking forward to A. R. Rahman weaving magic once again for STR after films like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu

Expectations for Pathu Thala have been massive right from the get-go as it is stated to be a remake of the Kannada blockbuster Mufti, which starred Dr. Shivarajkumar as a don while Srimurali played an undercover cop, with Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik portraying their roles in the Tamil version. The upcoming Tamil film also marks the first time Simbu will be seen as a gangster on the big screen and a short glimpse of his character as AGR was released last year to much excitement, with fans now waiting to witness him in the action-packed role in full glory next. Pathu Thala will also see Gautham Karthik playing a big and important role alongside STR, while the rest of the cast includes names like Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead and filmmaker-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon as the antagonist, followed by Kalaiyarasan, Teejay Arunasalam, Redin Kingsley, Anu Sithara, Manushyaputhiran among others in crucial roles.
