Nearly four years after the release of the first movie which made its impressive mark on the Spidey legacy, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was originally set to release in October of 2022, leaving only 6 months until we returned to the Spider-Verse. Now, that date has changed, leaving a mass community of fans disappointed and waiting even longer for the sequel.

In November 2019, a visual teaser announced an April 2022 date of release and the first look of the film announced that the film would release in October 2022. Now the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2018 film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has been pushed back all the way until next year with "Part One" of the movie scheduled to release on 2 June 2023 while "Part Two" of the Spider-Verse series will release a year after that on 29 March 2024. As of now, an official reason for the delay has yet to be revealed.

Sony Pictures Animation took to their official Twitter handle to make this new announcement to keep the fans in the loop so that they/we too are made aware of this delay. They wrote, "A shift in the multi-verse. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – June 2, 2023 | Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II – March 29, 2024 #SpiderVerse "

The official synopsis for the upcoming movie reads says, "Miles Morales returns for an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered". Additionally, Takuya Yamashiro, the "Japanese Spider-Man" from the 1978 Spider-Man series is also said to appear in the film.

The upcoming animated superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales / Spider-Man is produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation in association with Marvel. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the first installment of a two-part sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and is set in a shared multiverse called the 'Spider-Verse'. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, the film features the voices of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales alongside Oscar Isaac, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, and Issa Rae. Meanwhile, Sony has also revealed that the Spider-Man spin-off Madame Web starring will release on 7 July 2023.
