Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam breathed his last on Friday at 1.04PM after being admitted for testing COVID-19 positive at the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai  on August 5. The 74-year-old singer-actor had undergone treatment for his health condition for more than 50 days and had begun showing steady signs of improvement. However, on Thursday evening his condition had taken a turn for the worse, with MGM Healthcare officials in their statement saying maximum life support had commenced. However, the six-time National Award-winning singer's condition began deteriorating further and he suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest. With SPB no more, the six-time National Award-winning singer's death has come as a tremendous shock for his countless fans around the world who have been sharing their condolences, including celebrities and reputed personalities from various walks of life who have been honoring him in their tributes. 

Now, actor Vijay has taken part in the final rituals of SP Balasubrahmanyam, which is happening at his Thamaraipakkam farmhouse in the Tiruvallur district, where the Tamil Nadu police are laying him to rest with full police honours. The superstar is seen looking emotional while witnessing SPB in the glass box he has been put in and looks distraught at the sight of the singer-actor with whom he starred in Priyamaanavale in 2000. Vijay is seen offering his condolences and honoring the late singing legend in his tribute in person, while also comforting his son SPB Charan and their family members. Both Vijay and SPB are known to have shared a close bond in their friendship over the years apart from them starring in Priyamaanavale, which showed the duo as father and son and their relationship on screen winning hearts. 

Honored by the Government of India with the Padma Bhushan in 2011 and Padma Shri in 2001, SP Balasubrahmanyam has sung for a number of Vijay films over the years among which include three songs in his debut film, Naalaiya Theerpu, in 1992. He also sang hit songs such as 'Enna Azhagu' in Love Today, 'Bharathikku Kannamma' in Priyamudan, 'O Thendrale' in Endrendrum Kadhal, 'Adida Melathai' in Kannukkul Nilavu, 'Kuyilikku Koo Koo' in Friends, 'Adi One Inch Two' and 'Santhosam Valkaiyin' in Youth, 'Azhagooril Poothavale' in Thirumalai, 'Athi Athikka' in Aathi, including 'Pattu Onnu' in Jilla continuing to be a few popular numbers among fans over the years.
