S J Suryah's first big release of 2023 in a lead role, Bommai, is scheduled to open in cinemas on June 16 and release promotions are all set to kick off soon in the days ahead. In that light, the Tamil filmmaker-actor took to Twitter on Saturday evening to announce that he has now joined Instagram, while also sharing the link to his new social media handle. Requesting fans to not follow any other pages, SJ Suryah expressed his gratitude to everyone for their support and wrote, "I am starting my Insta journey with #BOMMAI release promotions….. pls don’t encourage fake id’s THIS IS MY OFFICIAL INSTA ID thank you all 💐💐💐💐💐💐🙏(sic)".

SJ Suryah's Bommai has been long-awaited by fans since it wrapped production in early 2020 and was in post-production for some time, with an intriguing trailer also released last year. The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Radha Mohan, who is known best for his emotional feel-good dramas like Abhiyum Naanum and Mozhi, and is billed to be a romantic thriller. SJ Suryah will be seen paired with youth sensation Priya Bhavani Shankar in Bommai after their previous screen appearance together in the 2019 hit, Monster, and their on-screen rapport is once again expected to be a big highlight.
Produced under the Angel Studios MH LLP banner, Bommai features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics written by Karky and also includes a talented technical team among whom are cinematographer Richard M Nathan, editor Anthony, art director K Kadhirr, stunt choreographer Kanal Kannan, while M R Pon Parthiban is the writer. Bommai has created quite a lot of curiosity as it sees SJ Suryah in the lead role once again after he delivered excellent performances appearing in key supporting roles in recent times. The film will also serve as the first step ahead of his upcoming big releases that include Jigarthanda DoubleX alongside Raghava Lawrence under Karthik Subbaraj's direction, followed by Vishal's Mark Antony, and director Shankar's Game Changer with Telugu superstar Ram Charan.
