Hiphop Tamizha's Veeran is gearing up for a huge opening in theatres on June 2 and the early buzz for the Tamil superhero entertainer film has been nothing short of amazing so far. Directed by ARK Saravan of Maragadha Naanayam fame and produced under the prestigious Sathya Jyothi Films banner, the excitement has been getting bigger by the day ever since the release of the film's action-packed trailer a few days back. Following the spectacular response to the Veeran trailer, a small section of fans on social media began citing comparisons of the Hiphop Tamizha-starrer with the 2021 Malayalam-language superhero film, Minnal Murali, which had Tovino Thomas in the lead role and was directed by filmmaker-actor Basil Joseph.
Minnal Murali, which holds the distinction of being the first Malayalam superhero film, was released directly on Netflix and went on to become a smashing success on the global streaming giant's platform in 2021. The film revolved around one Jaison, a young tailor played by Tovino Thomas, who gains superhero powers after being struck by lightning, and then dons a costume to fight an adversary with the same powers. Although in hindsight, the premise of Minnal Murali and Hiphop Tamizha's Veeran might seem similar based on the superhero themes, the directors of both the films, ARK Saravan and Basil Joseph have now quashed those rumblings in a promotional video released by Sathya Jyothi Films.
In the new Veeran promotion video, we see Hiphop Tamizha and ARK Saravan along with the film's editor GK Prasanna talking to Minnal Murali director Basil Joseph, with the interaction turning out to be hilarious from start to end. We see Basil Joseph wishing the team of the Tamil superhero film for their big-screen endeavor releasing this week, while Hiphop Adhi also goes on to make a pitch for a collaboration with the hit Malayalam filmmaker.
