Sivakarthikeyan's Don has turned out to be a phenomenal success as the film became the second consecutive venture for the actor-producer to enter the 100 crore club. Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Sivakarthikeyan Productions banners, the youth college entertainer directed by debutant Cibi Chakravarthi featured chart-buster music by Anirudh Ravichander and had packaged in all the commercial elements that would appeal to audiences of all ages. In that light, the Don success meet was held on Monday in Chennai, which also saw actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin make an appearance and join in on the celebrations with Sivakarthikeyan and the entire team of the film.

Speaking at the Don success meet, Udhayanidhi dropped a big surprise to Sivakarthikeyan and many who had gathered at the event by revealing that he was the first choice to play the lead role in the film. He informed that he rejected the film when Cibi approached him as he felt it wouldn't be apt for him to appear in the portions as a schoolboy while adding that he loved the story and was grateful that he didn't act in the film calling the role as being tailor-made for Sivakarthikeyan. Asserting that he couldn't have pulled off the schoolboy portions as convincingly as Sivakarthikeyan, Udhayanidhi, who has distributed Don under his Red Giant Movies banner, stated that he would not have given as strong a performance as SK in the emotional portions towards the end of the film.
