Tamil actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan's Don released last week and took a strong opening in theatres everywhere as fans continue to throng cinema halls even on the weekdays. The directorial debut of Cibi Chakravarthy, a former associate of blockbuster filmmaker Atlee, the youth entertainer jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Sivakarthikeyan Productions banners is set amidst a college backdrop and features 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander's foot-tapping music. With Don winning the hearts of audiences everywhere, the film has also earned a fan in none other than 'Superstar' Rajinikanth, who recently watched the film and shared his opinion with Sivakarthikeyan and director Cibi Chakravarthi. 

Both Sivakarthikeyan and Cibi have been promoting Don extensively, including the Telugu version College Don, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with the duo recently revealing during an interview with a leading channel that Rajinikanth had expressed his regards to the team after watching the film. Sivakarthikeyan stated, "There was one special call from 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. He said, 'Super, super. Fantastic, fantastic. Very good acting. The last 20 minutes I couldn't control my tears,' ". Pointing to Cibi, SK said that the Don director was a "big fan of Rajinikanth" like he was and added that there were around eight moments in the film that had references to the Superstar. "So, we felt very special when he called," Sivakarthikeyan said. Speaking about his conversation with Rajinikanth, Cibi said, "I kept saying, 'I love you, sir' all the time." Concluding his statement, SK said, "All the wishes are special and among them, Rajini sir's wish was much more special." Sivakarthikeyan's Don has him paired opposite youth sensation Priyanka Arul Mohan, who has appeared alongside the actor for the second time after their 2021 blockbuster, Doctor. Furthermore, the film also features a diverse ensemble cast that includes SJ Suryah, Samuthirakani, Soori, Mirchi Vijay, Sivaangi Krishnakumar, Bala Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Munishkanth, Raju Jeyamohan among others in supporting roles.
