Leading actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan once again displayed his affection for animals by adopting a lion named Sher-Yar at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur, Chennai. The news about the Tamil star adopting the three-year-old animal for a period of six months was announced by the authorities after he previously adopted an elephant named Prakrithi and a lion named Vishnu from the same prestigious zoo back in September 2021. The Arignar Anna Zoological Park official Twitter page shared the big news writing, "Actor Thiru.D.Sivakarthikeyan has adopted a lion named Sher-Yar, aged 3 years housed in #AAZP for a period of six months. The adoption is certainly a boon for the upkeep of the lion, Sher-Yar. (sic)"

On the work front, Sivakarthikeyan is set to have a big 2023 as he will be kick-starting the year with his first big release, Maaveeran, opening in cinemas worldwide on July 14. Preparations are in full swing to make it the biggest release in the actor's career, with blockbuster production-distribution banner Red Giant Movies acquiring the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights a while back. Expectations for Maaveeran have been huge right from the get-go after it was revealed in the announcement video last year that the will be seen in the role of a cartoonist. Touted to be a mass action drama, the film produced under Arun Viswa's Shanthi Talkies banner has been directed by Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin and also stars Viruman heroine Aditi Shankar as the female lead, with filmmaker Mysskin cast as the antagonist, followed by veteran actress Saritha and comedian Yogi Babu appearing in key roles.

Sivakarthikeyan's second release of the year is the long-awaited big-budget sci-fi venture, Ayalaan, directed by Indru Netru Naalai fame R. Ravikumar, and is announced to come out as a grand Diwali release this November. Produced under the KJR Studios banner and being distributed by 24 AM Studios, the highly-anticipated film has created tremendous excitement as it includes over 4500+ VFX shots and holds the distinction of being the first full-length live-action venture in Indian cinema to accomplish the feat. Featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, Ayalaan will see SK sharing screen space with Rakul Preet Singh, Karunakaran, Yogi Babu, Sharad Kelkar, Isha Koppikar, Banupriya, Bala Saravanan among others in key roles.

At present, Sivakarthikeyan is filming his next biggie, the tentatively titled SK 21 under Rangoon fame Rajkumar Periasamy's direction. Being produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) banner along with Sony Pictures International Productions and R. Mahendran, the film has the actor paired with blockbuster South Indian actress Sai Pallavi for the first time and will feature music by National Award-winning composer G. V. Prakash Kumar.
