It is almost ten years since Shriya stepped into the Tamil film industry. She made her debut in the movie Enakku 20 Unakku 18 in the year 2003. She is currently working in a bilingual movie Chandra, which will be released in both Tamil and Telugu. She is also involved in various social activities.

During a recent interview, she said,” The thought that I have reached such a height in the film industry overwhelms me. I have acted in various languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English. I have got to work with big actors and famous directors. I have worked in good stories and have donned the best of characters. My fans and audience have accepted me.”

She adds,” If I had not become an actor, I would have become a dancer. As a child, I wanted to study a lot and become a graduate. But I couldn’t as I stepped into acting. Writer Salam Rushdie’s Midnight Children has been made into a movie. Being a part of it is an unforgettable experience. I like the works of him. I practice Yoga. Actress Amala introduced me to it. After learning it, I have been able to find peace. It makes u realize who you are. I’m interested in social working too. I have been helping the poor and blind.”
