Director and Actor Selvaraghavan revealed the reason behind doing this small yet important role in Naane Varuvaen with National Award-winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan, the Editor-in-Chief of Galatta Plus. The director/actor, who has played lead role in Bakasuran movie that was released today, revealed some of his experiences in the film industry over the years in the interview that was released earlier this week
Selvaraghavan who also wrote and directed Naane Varuvaen revealed the role was not written for him. he said another actor was was supposed to do the role but could not do it in the last minute and he could not find any replacement. The famous director said many asked him to play the role and as his assistant directors also insisted, he agreed. He said it a pain-staking process to act and direct at the same time and more attention is required to do the two jobs perfectly. The director said he had already seen Dhanush doing it, highlighting the flashback sequence in Power Paandi. "I had to act, then run to see how the shot had turned out", recalling his experience in Naane Varuvaen. Selvaraghavan said to Baradwaj Rangan that some can do both the jobs naturally like famous Hollywood actor and director Clint Eastwood.
The acclaimed director has played some interesting roles in Beast and Saani Kaayidham and Naane Varuvaen. His latest film, Bakasuran was directed by Mohan G, bank rolled by GM Film Corporation. Natarajan Subramanian, Radha Ravi, Mansoor Ali Khan have also acted in the film, with music composed by Sam CS.
