Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna issued a statement on Thursday evening regarding the divorce of his son Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu after a section of the media claimed that the leading South Indian actress was the first to file for their separation. In the interview, it had been stated that Naga Chaitanya had "accepted" Samantha's decision, but was apprehensive about the decision to end their four-year marriage as it would hurt the "family's reputation". With the statements going viral on social media, Nagarjuna has now put a full stop to the rumors by denying the claims that are being made. He tweeted, "The news in social media and electronic media quoting my statement about Samantha & Nagachaitanya is completely false and absolute nonsense!! I request media friends to please refrain from posting rumours as news. #GiveNewsNotRumours". Below is his tweet:

Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation last year, with rumors of their separation gaining momentum after the actress changed her name on her social media accounts to her initial - 'S'. A few weeks back, Naga Chaitanya stated during the promotion of his new film that the decision to part ways was made together. He said, "It is ok to be separated. That is a mutual decision made for their individual happiness." Post the split, Samantha issued a warning in an Instagram Story against "false rumors" about her and wrote, "Your emotional investment into a personal crisis has overwhelmed me. Thank you all for showing deep empathy, concern and for defending me against false rumours and stories that are being spread. They say I had affairs, never wanted children, that I am an opportunist and now that I have had abortions. . A divorce in itself is an extremely painful process. Let alone allowing me the time to heal. This attack on me has been relentless. But I promise you this, I will never allow this or anything else they say, break me."
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya, who married in 2017, announced their split in a joint statement last year on their social media handles. Her statement was as follows: "To all our well wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well wishers, and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support." Recently, the actress deleted the post, which has since left many fans quite confused. Both Samantha and Naga Chaitanya co-starred in films like Autonagar Surya and Ye Maaya Chesave.
