Rajneeti: Katrina as Sonia?

Rumour mills arechurning overtime about Katrina Kaif's role in Rajneeti, saying her role in the moviemimics Sonia Gandhi's role in real life. Though both Katrina and Sonia share nothing in common except a foreign-accented Hindi, Katrina's makeup-less, cotton-saree-clad role as a political figure has triggeredthis rumour.Katrina's character enters politics only after her husband's death in the flick, again mimicing the life Mrs. Gandhi.

When asked about this striking resemblance, director Prakash Jha retorts with an instant “No”. The veteran filmmaker says that there is “not even one percent” resemblance between Katrina's character and Sonia Gandhi's character. However, he agreed that the film is a reflection of contemporary politics and that Katrina is playing a role different from all her previous roles. “Katrina's personality has innocence. Her face reflects her honesty,” said Jha. In a light-hearted manner, Jha said that after listening to Katrina's fiery speech in Bhopal, people wanted her to contest in the elections.

The movie has Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar and Naseeruddin Shah and others in the lead roles.

It may be noted that Jha, who lost the last elections as an independent candidate from Bihar, has recently announced his willingness to contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sources say that Katrina may campaign for Jha in Bihar. Seems like the actress is likely to get an opportunity to do some real-time campaigning.
