Rahman's 'Jai Ho' goes political

Elections are drawing close, and the battle for votes has certainly heated up. Every year political figures keep turning to the famous filmy folk to lend support to their campaigns. However, this time, the showbiz-politics connection has gone to a new level altogether.

With the recent sweep at the Oscars and the final rise to fame by India's 'Beethoven' A.R. Rahman, the song 'Jai Ho' from Slumdog Millionaire has become a global hit. And just recently, the Congress party has officially acquired the rights to use the song for their election campaign.

Henceforth, Congress' election campaigns will resonate with the Oscar-winning song, 'Jai Ho'. All we can say is, films always help politicians garner publicity, even for our politicians.
