Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan: 1, has been released worldwide and the opening has been nothing else than sensational for a Tamil film in recent years. The epic historical action-adventure film includes a power-packed star cast featuring the likes of 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha playing the lead roles. PS: 1, as Ponniyin Selvan: 1 is also being called, includes a diverse ensemble cast that includes actor-filmmaker R. Parthiban playing the role of Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, which he has described to be an important one in his career.

With Ponniyin Selvan released in theatres worldwide today, Friday, September 30, Parthiban took to Twitter to share a screenshot of his conversation with the film's director Mani Ratnam and how the iconic filmmaker expressed his gratitude to the actor for being a part of the film. In their conversation, we can see Mani Ratnam thanking Parthiban saying, "Thank you Parthiban sir. Thanks for being a part of the film, Thanks for adding strength to CP. Thanks for taking time and effort to come repeatedly during your own shoot. And Thanks for going to Tanjore today." Parthiban too conveyed his respect saying it was his pleasure to work alongside the legendary filmmaker and also for giving him the opportunity to be a part of Ponniyin Selvan
