Nayanthara has yet again done it! The reigning queen of South Indian cinema has added yet another feather to her hat with her latest release, Mookuthi Amman, which premiered on November 14 on the DisneyPlus Hotstar VIP streaming service and has been basking in the glory of positive response from fans and critics alike. The directorial debut of RJ Balaji along with NJ Saravanan, the Hindu devotional comedy venture with Nayanthara as the titular character has turned out to be a huge success, with the film promoted as a revival of the genre that enjoyed a huge popularity during the 80s and 90s. RJ Balaji who hit the bullseye last year in his debut as a hero in the Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh-produced political satire LKG, teamed up once again with the veteran producer for Mookuthi Amman, which has come as a big treat for families this Diwali. 

Although Mookuthi Amman was initially planned for a theatrical release on May 1 earlier this year, that changed soon in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The success of the film on DisneyPlus Hotstar VIP has proven that fans will welcome ventures that provide good entertainment on any OTT platform. With the film currently seeing a strong viewership on the streaming service, the much-awaited 'Aigiri Nandini' video song featured on Nayanthara has now been officially released on YouTube. Composed by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, the song has been sung by Aruna Sairam to the lyrics penned by Pa Vijay. 

Apart from co-directing the film, RJ Balaji also stars in the lead role in Mookuthi Amman, which also includes veteran actress Urvashi, who is being showered with praises for her stellar performance. She has turned out to be a revelation in recent times and has reminded fans the powerhouse talent she is. The film also includes Thadam heroine Smruthi Venkat, veteran actor Moulee in a major supporting role, followed by Bigil fame Indhuja and Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu stars Gautham Karthik and Yashika Aannand making cameo appearances. Cinematography has been carried out by Dinesh Krishnan, while Selva RK is the editor and 'Stunt' Silva has overseen the action sequences. Divya Nagarajan and Anu Vardhan are the costume designers, with Vijayakumar serving as the art director.
