Recently, we were the first to release the news that following Seema Raja, director Ponram is all set to begin work on his next movie with M Sasikumar as the lead. We had also mentioned that this movie had been titled MGR Magan and is to also star Sathyaraj in it. Now, we have quite a few more details about this project. Following the massive success of her maiden Telugu venture Gaddhalakonda Ganesha, Mirnalini Ravi has been roped in to play the female lead in this movie, which will also have Samuthirakani as part of the cast. This movie went on floors today with a pooja, at Theni.

MGR Magan is being produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment and will have Senthil Kumar as the Executive Producer, singer & composer Anthony Daasan scoring the music, Vinoth Rathinasamy handling the camera, Vivek Harshan taking care of the editing and G Durairaj taking care of the Art department. The cast also includes Saranya Ponvannan and with the movie rolling in Theni, we can be assured that this movie would also be following Ponram's usual trend of being a rural family entertainer. Ponram delivered two successive hits with Sivakarthikeyan in his debut directorial Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan. The duo again came together for their third movie - Seema Raja, which received mixed reviews. The movie failed to make a mark in urban areas but turned out to get a very decent response from the rural sections.

There are also reports that Ponram would next be making a movie with Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi for Karthik Subbaraj's production house. This project will be Screen Scene Media Entertainment's third production venture following Sundar C's Iruttu and Harish Kalyan's Dhaarala Prabhu, both of which are yet to release. This banner has earlier distributed movies like Kalavani 2, Ayogya and Natpe Thunai and have also acquired the theatrical rights of Thalapathy Vijay's Bigil. Watch this space for more updates...
