The highly-anticipated Telugu action-drama film Acharya now has a new release date. Written and directed by Koratala Siva, the film was set to release earlier on April 1, but has been postponed due to the clash with the release of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which will be coming out on March 25. An official statement via Twitter by production banner Konidela Pro Company states, "After a healthy discussion and mutual understanding, we would be releasing Acharya on April 29th as RRR would be hitting the screens on March 25th." So, it is safe to assume that both directors have come forward and discussed the release of their movies with one another, which ultimately led to this exact conclusion. Below is the Acharya release date announcement:

Acharya is produced by Ram Charan and Niranjan Reddy under Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company banners. It features music composed by Mani Sharma, cinematography by Tirru and Naveen Nooli as the editor. The film was launched way back in October 2019, with principal photography beginning as early as January 2020. Filming was going at a brisk pace until it was suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Production resumed later in November 2020.

The premise of the film states that it will be about Acharya, a Naxalite turned social reformer, who launches a fight against the Endowments Department over misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations. 'Megastar' Chiranjeevi is playing the titular role and is paired opposite Kajal Aggarwal, while Ram Charan will be seen in a pivotal role and Pooja Hegde as his love interest. Sonu Sood, Jisshu Sengupta, Saurav Lokesh, Kishore, Tanikella Bharani, Ajay among others are to be seen in supporting roles in Acharya, while Regina Cassandra is making a special appearance for a song titled 'Saana Kastam'.
