Upcoming Malayalam multi-starrer Pathinettam Padi has been in the news for all the right reasons. For one, the veterans who are involved with the movie have been taking film making classes at the set, which have been quite popular with the youngsters who have been regulars there. Then there is the promise of seeing 14 new faces in the movie - one new face from each district. Our own Mammootty will be a part of this movie in an extended cameo role: the trailer has him in all his usual swag, giving Mammookka fans something to cheer about.

Actor- Shankar has already let on that Mammootty's character - Abraham Palackal - will be a professor at the Stanford University who returns to India to help his brother out. The role will be a humble homage to the actor that is Mammootty, the director had said. Prithviraj Sukumaran will also have an equally substantial cameo role. Arya and Unni Mukundan are the main leads in the movie, which also has actors like Priyamani and Ahana Krishna.

We aren't sure if the movie could be called actor-scriptwriter Shankar Ramakrishnan's directorial debut as he had directed one of the four stories in the anthology, Kerala Cafe. Santhosh Sivan, Arya, and Shaji Nadeshan are producing the movie under the banner Augustus cinemas, which also brought out Mammooty's Great father. The gripping trailer - which has everything from romance to battle scene - was released about 2 days ago and has been trending online ever since.

The last 15 seconds of the trailer features Mammootty - he only says one dialogue, but that one dialogue says it all. When asked who he is, the megastar quiet aptly replies, "that is a long story kid. If we begin on it, I'll have to tell you the history of the last 30 years or so." Mammooka fans have been going berserk over just this one dialogue. Some of the comments on the social media called 2019 Mammootty's year.

Indeed the year given him only well-received movies hope the trend will continue with mamakam, his upcoming historical bilingual which is being directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Overall Pathinettam Padi, which is releasing on July 5, looks to be on the way to becoming a blockbuster. Watch the trailer here:
