At the trailer launch of Madhavan's Saala Kadoos, which is releasing as Irudhi Suttru in Tamil, the actor paid tribute to the multi-talented Kamal Haasan--whom he considers as his mentor. While launching the trailer of the film, Kamal Haasan praised Maddy for his passionate efforts towards cinema. However, he also said that rather than a protege, he considers the Minnale actor as his friend and equal. Saala Kadoos is directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Rajkumar Hirani.
