Lata Mangeshkar to be awarded first Hridaynath Award!

Hridayesh Arts is a Mumbai based socio-cultural organization which was inaugurated on 26th October 1990, on the 53rd birthday of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata Mangeshkar's brother and a very renowned music composer. Hridayesh Arts has built a career spanning activities comprising music, literature, education, sports, theatre and areas of social concern, with Pt. Hridaynath being the source of inspiration and a guiding spirit in all their endeavours.

This year will mark Pt. Hridaynath's entry into his 75th eventful year of glorious existence, and Hridayesh Arts has decided to mark this with the institution of a lifetime achievement award titled Hridaynath Award, which will be given to individuals who have reached the summit of excellence in their chosen fields, and ruled over the hearts of millions of people.
The recipient of the first Hridaynath Award has very aptly been chosen as Lata Mangeshkar, the undisputed melody queen of India. Lata ji has graciously agreed to accept the award, which will be presented to her today in a function at Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has been chosen to do the honours and present Lata ji with the award, and the function is to be presided by eminent film maker Yash Chopra. The The award presentation is to be accompanied by a musical tribute to the Indian Nightingale, by renowned singers like Suresh Wadkar, Kavitha Krishnamurty, Sudesh Bhosle, Sadhana Sargam, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam.

The Hridaynath Award will be yet another feather in Lata Mangeshkar's cap, and will be a wonderful gift to her on her 82nd birthday!
