Kamal Haasan seeks compensation from Pyramid Saimira

Universal Star Kamal Haasan has filed a suit against Pyramid Saimira Production International Ltd. seeking compensation of Rs. 11 crore with interest for the loss sustained due to the restrictions imposed on him by the entertainment company.
 
Representing Rajkamal Films International, Kamal said that as per the agreement signed in April last between his production house and Pyramid Saimira, the shooting of Marmayogi was scheduled from March 2008 which included a song crooned by him. Stating in the suit that in violation of the agreement, Pyramid Saimira did not make further payments after July 30, by which the defendants suffered a loss of over Rs. 40 crores.
 
Kamal Haasan has also sought an interim injunction to restrain the defendants from making any statement relating to the agreement without the permission of the High Court.
 
The counsel of Pyramid Saimira has informed the High Court that the bank guarantee for Rs. 3.91 crore furnished by Rajkamal Films for obtaining the release of Unnaipol Oruvan is for one year only. Justice G. Rajasuriya has asked Rajkamal Films to make necessary arrangements for renewal of the guarantee if the case is not closed within one year.
