Jawan piracy: Criminal complaints filed against individuals sharing pirated copies of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, police crackdown

Jawan piracy criminal complaints filed against individuals sharing pirated copies of shah rukh khan starrer atlee - Tamil Movie Cinema News

'Bollywood Baadshah' Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is the talk of the town as the mass action entertainer has turned out to be a phenomenal box office success and is still going strong in theatres worldwide. In the midst of the massive response, there has also been a huge rise in pirated content with clips and the film being leaked across various platforms. In that light, production banner Red Chillies Entertainment has now resorted to strict disciplinary action against individuals sharing the clips or uploading Jawan across platforms like WhatsApp and others. Multiple anti-piracy agencies have been hired by the production house to track down individuals and groups aggressively, who are then reported to the police to take criminal action for spreading piracy. Red Chillies Entertainment filed a complaint with police inspector, Mr. Amar Patil, from Santacruz West Police Station, against people who are indulging in the piracy of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer.

Sources close to the production house state, "We have already tracked down pirated accounts run by individuals across various platforms, criminal and civil action is being initiated against them for releasing pirated content of the film Jawan. Piracy is a huge issue faced by the film industry at large and undermines the hard work of thousands of people associated with the film. Such acts of illegally recording and leaking, amounts to cheating, theft, and infringement/violation of intellectual property."

The production house has found that the nature of the pirated content infringement clearly indicates that Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan was unlawfully accessed and stolen by persons who are distributing the same illegally for monetary gains. Furthermore, such an act would not have been possible without entering into a criminal conspiracy by the accused, and hence criminal action will be taken against individuals and groups, the production house added. Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court granted a John Doe order in favor of Red Chillies Entertainment to take action against leaked videos and pirated copies of Jawan.

Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan directed by Tamil filmmaker Altee has grossed 696.67 crores in global box office collections as of Friday, September 15, and is expected to cross the 1000-crore mark soon. Featuring music composed by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander, the film also stars 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara as the female lead, while 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi plays the antagonist, with Deepika Padukone making a cameo appearance, followed by Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, among others in vital roles.
