Blockbuster Tamil director Atlee has praised the recently-released Finnish-English film, Sisu, in a short three-word review on Instagram. Taking to his Stories on Saturday, the hit filmmaker shared a poster of the acclaimed international film featuring Finnish actor Jorma Tommila revealing how much he loved the experience. In his review, Atlee said, "Loved this movie", while adding three red heart emojis for the film directed by Finnish filmmaker-screenwriter Jalmari Helander. Atlee, who is best known for his Tamil blockbusters Theri, Mersal, and Bigil, starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay, has on several occasions in the past shared his reviews for a number of films, with Sisu now taking a special place in his heart. Sisu is set in the final days of World War 2 and revolves around a gold prospector and how he strives to get back his gold stolen by a German death squad, while also defending himself from them. The official synopsis of the film is as follows: "During the last desperate days of WWII, a solitary prospector (Jorma Tommila) crosses paths with Nazis on a scorched-earth retreat in northern Finland. When the Nazis steal his gold, they quickly discover that they have just tangled with no ordinary miner. While there is no direct translation for the Finnish word 'sisu', this legendary ex-commando will embody what sisu means: a white-knuckled form of courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds. And no matter what the Nazis throw at him, the one-man death squad will go to outrageous lengths to get his gold back – even if it means killing every last Nazi in his path." Sisu has been receiving glorious reviews from leading critics around the world and is currently playing in theatres across India.
Atlee, on the other hand, is currently busy working on his big directorial debut in Hindi, the upcoming Jawan, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The action thriller was announced recently to be coming out in theatres worldwide on September 7 after initially planned for a June 2 release. Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan will be out as a pan-Indian release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages and also marks the debut of 'Lady Superstar' Nayanthara, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer GK Vishnu, and editor Ruben in Bollywood, with Vijay Sethupathi cast as the antagonist.
