23 years of kushi movie sj suryah thanks fans for their support thalapathy vijay jyothika - Tamil Movie Cinema News

Leading Tamil filmmaker-actor S J Suryah's Kushi starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Jyotika celebrated its 23rd anniversary on Friday. The romantic comedy film produced under A. M. Rathnam's Sri Surya Movies banner went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters, with hit composer 'Thenisai Thendral' Deva's songs turning out to be chart-topping hits. With fans celebrating Kushi completing 23 years since its release, S J Suryah today thanked everyone for their love towards the Vijay and Jyotika-starrer and wrote on Twitter, "Yesterday all our brothers and sisters and friends celebrated the 23 years of KUSHI 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I am overwhelmed & will create new records with all Ur support 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐thank you all🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 (sic)"

Kushi revolves around two college mates, Shiva (Vijay) and Jenny (Jyotika), who remain friends despite having feelings for each other, but later go their separate ways as a result of a misunderstanding and their egos, but reuniting in the end. The film turned out to be a perfect entertainer during the summer of 2000 and continues to be well-received when aired on television. Kushi also marked the first-time collaboration for S J Suryah with Vijay, with the former later making a cameo appearance in the Tamil superstar's 2012 box office hit, Nanban, followed by playing the antagonist in the 2017 money-spinner Mersal, while also showing up in a small role in the blockbuster Varisu earlier this year.

As Kushi continues to be a film close to Vijay and Jyotika fans everywhere, S J Suryah will soon be making his directorial comeback in a film titled Killer, which is reportedly going to be based on racing and is expected to begin rolling once he completes his acting commitments. Having rebranded himself over the years as an acting force to reckon with, he will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Tamil time-travel action entertainer, Mark Antony, alongside Vishal. The Don star also has in his lineup the much-awaited romantic film, Bommai, opposite Priya Bhavani Shankar directed by Radha Mohan. He is also cast in an important role in ace filmmaker Shankar's Telugu-Tamil bilingual political film, Game Changer, which will see him sharing screen space with RRR star Ram Charan. S J Suryah is also set to appear on screens in the highly-anticipated Jigarthanda Double X alongside Raghava Lawrence under Karthik Subbaraj's direction this Diwali in November.
