Hema Malini unveils Pothys' new sari brand
Yesteryears matinee idol Hema Malini unveiled ‘Vastra Kala Pattu,’ a new sari brand by Pothys, in a star-studded event in Chennai on Monday. Vastra Kala Pattu is a confluence of North and South, with├п┬┐┬╜zardosi and minakari works aesthetically adorning├п┬┐┬╜Kanchipuram silk saris.
Launching the sari, Hema Malini said: "Indian women look their best in saris which symbolise the elegance and grace of feminity. The fusion of North and South in the sari is an innovative venture to attract├п┬┐┬╜South Indian women who increasingly prefer North Indian works." The Vastra Kala Pattu would revive and popularise the artistic tradition of India, she said.
Marking the event, women who have made a mark in their respective fields were honoured. Singer Anuradha Sriram, doctor Priya Selvaraj, ad director Latha Menon, fashion designer Irum Ali and singer-director Anitha Udip were felicitated. A ramp walk of Ms. Chennai winners was also held. Managing Partner of Pothys S. Ramesh gave a vote of thanks.
