After the massive success of Game of Thrones, HBO started production on its prequel show House of the Dragon which is now scheduled to release on 21 August 2022. Dragon tells the story of a civil war within House Targaryen and is set about 200 years before the events in Thrones. The announcement of this had got all GoT fanatics on their feet as they could not wait to be transported back to Westeros. With the show's release right around the corner, HBO has come out with another grand news that will blow you away!

HBO is currently planning a spinoff based on the character of Jon Snow and is in early development. Kit Harington is in talks to reprise his role as the fan-favorite hero Jon Snow in the proposed series, which would take place after the events of Game of Thrones — potentially opening up a better storyline, following what many considered was a truly disappointing ending to one of the most wildly popular television series of all time.

In GoT’s eighth-and-final season, Jon Snow discovered his true name was Aegon Targaryen VI, a potential heir to the Iron Throne. In the series finale, he was exiled from Westeros for killing his Queen/aunt/lover Daenerys Targaryen and journeyed North of the Wall to take the black with the Wildlings to leave his old life behind. If the series gets the green light, it will be the first sequel to Game of Thrones. The sequel could also see the return of other characters like Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), and Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) among others who survived the final season.

Since completing his work across eight seasons of Thrones, Harington has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, co-starring in 2021’s Eternals. He also recently starred in the title role in the National Theater’s live production of Henry V. On Thrones, the actor was known for enduring some of the show’s most grueling filming, including the final season’s infamous 11 weeks of winter night shoots in Northern Ireland.
