Happy Birthday Lakshmi Rai
Model-turned-actress Lakshmi Rai celebrates her birthday today. She made her acting debut in 2005 in the Tamil film Karka Kasadara. While most of her Tamil releases performed poorly at the box office, she rose to fame with Mammooty's Annan Thambi (2008) in Malayalam. Some of her successful Malayalam films include 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), Chattambinadu, In Ghost House Inn (2009) and Evidam Swargamanu (2009). She has established herself as one of the leading actresses in the Malayalam film industry today. Her portrayal of a lawyer in Dhaam Dhoom garnered her a Filmfare Award nomination in the category for Best Supporting Actress.
She is currently working on the Malayalam films Arabiyum, Ottakavum, P. Madhavan Nairum and Casanovva, both with Mohanlal, and Mankatha with Ajith.
