G. V. Prakash Kumar's Ayngaran is finally set see the light of day as the composer turned actor announced on Friday that the film will open in theatres on May 5. The long-delayed film has been directed by Ravi Arasu of the 2015 Atharva-starrer Eeti and has been produced under B. Ganesh's Common Man Presents banner. Ayngaran's release has undergone several delays despite the film's production and post-production works getting completed in 2019. Taking to Twitter, GV Prakash shared a poster from the film and wrote, "#Ayngaran releases in theatres on MAY5th … from the director of #eeti .. a film made with good intentions and good content … need ur love and support … pls do share".

Ayngaran has GV Prakash paired with Mahima Nambiar, who is known for her roles in films like Kuttram 23, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Magamuni and was seen more recently in Oh My Dog starring Arun Vijay and his son Arnav Vijay. The film also has a talented supporting cast featuring the likes of  Kaali Venkat, Arul Dass, Aadukalam Naren, Hareesh Peradi, Abishek, Irene, Siddharth among others, with GV Prakash composing the tunes once again apart from playing the lead role.

GV Prakash will be looking forward to Ayngaran doing well at the box office after his performances in the adult romantic court drama Bachelor opposite youth sensation Divya Bharathi and the action-thriller Selfie alongside Gautham Menon, fetched him appreciation from fans and critics alike. Apart from Ayngaran, GV Prakash is also awaiting the release of Adangathey, including Idimuzhakkam under Seenu Ramasamy's direction, which wrapped up production not long back. He is at present attached to films like 4G, Kadhalikka Yaarumillai, Kadhalai Thedi Nithyananda, Aayiram Jenmangal to name a notable few apart from the independent English-language venture titled Trap City.
