Grand reception for Resul Pookutty

Resul Pookutty, who has brought laurels to the country and to Kerala by winning the Oscar award for his work in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, will be accorded a grand welcome on Wednesday in Kochi by the entire film industry of Kerala.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, director Sibi Malayil, chairman of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), said that all members in the Malayalam film fraternity will turn up for the gala event to be held at the Durbar hall ground at 6.30 p.m.

Before the�the public meeting begins, Pookutty will be taken in an open vehicle, accompanied by 'panchavadyam' (percussion instruments), from the office of the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce at M. G. Road to the venue of the meeting.

Representatives of the associations will present him with ‘ponnada’ on the occasion. MACTA will felicitate Pookutty by conferring an honorary membership to him. Artistes will present a choreography of ‘Jai ho’, the international hit-number from Slumdog Millionaire at the venue. Slumdog Millionaire, which bagged eight Oscars, will be screened to the public after the function.

The event is jointly organized by Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce, Kerala Film Producers' Association, Kerala Film Distributors' Association, Kerala Cine Exhibitors' Association, Kerala Cine Exhibitors' Federation, Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes, FEFKA and Malayalam Cine Technician’s Association (MACTA). The event is being�sponsored by the Nest group of companies.
