Documentary film festival

Ilina Sen, Dean of Vardha University, will inaugurate VIBGYOR, the five-day festival of short films and documentaries, in Thrissur on Wednesday. As many as 100 films, including The Shades (Canada), Photographia (Spain), The Kites (Poland), Panch Kahaniyam (India), will be screened. The theme of the festival is ‘Food sovereignty’.

The topics to be discussed during the seminars are ‘Mass communication’, ‘Dravidian ethnicity politics in the South Asian context’, ‘Communal and secular politics: responses to terrorism, stereotyping and genocide’, ‘Threats to livelihood and people’s basic rights’ and ‘Community radio for survival’.

Kerala Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor K.R. Viswambharan, Azra Sayeed from Pakistan, Claude Alwares and Kamala Bhasin will handle the topics during the seminars. Retrospectives of the works of Ali Kame and Shabnam Virmani will also be held.
