It's celebration time at blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Shankar's household as his elder daughter Aishwarya Shankar has tied the knot with Tarun Karthikeyan and congratulatory messages and wishes are pouring in from all quarters. The grand wedding ceremony was held in Chennai on Monday, April 15, and pictures showing the young couple from the celebrations are now taking social media by storm. Dressed in traditional attire, Aishwarya looked gorgeous in a pink designer saree, which she complimented with jewelry, while Tarun, an assistant director to Shankar, appeared striking in a kurta and vesthi. Shankar's younger daughter Aditi Shankar and son Arjith Shankar too were seen happy at the wedding proceedings of their elder sister Aishwarya along with their mother Easwari Shankar

Shankar's daughter Aishwarya's wedding saw big names grace the special occasion among whom included Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and wife Durga Stalin, who wished the newly married couple a happy life together. There were also several leading Tamil celebrities who joined in on the celebrations, including 'Superstar' Rajinikanth and 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan, who have collaborated with Shankar on a number of projects over the years. Furthermore, filmmakers Mani Ratnam, Atlee, and Vignesh Shivan, actors 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Nayanthara, Suriya, Karthi, Suhasini Maniratnam, Jayaram, Siddharth, and Aditi Rao Hydari also joined in on the celebrations at Aishwarya Shankar and Tarun Karthikeyan's wedding.

Aishwarya Shankar got engaged to Tarun Karthikeyan back in February after her marriage to cricketer Rohit Damodaran was dissolved after he was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a 16-year-old girl. Shankar, on the other hand, has been busy shuffling his time between the sets of 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's magnum opus Indian 2 and his directorial debut in Telugu titled Game Changer with Ram Charan. While Indian 2, a sequel to Indian (1996), has been announced for a grand worldwide theatrical release in June, Game Changer is still filming and is en route to completion soon.
