In a shocking news revelation, renowned Tamil film director N. Lingusamy has been sentenced to jail for a period of 6 months. The verdict was pronounced Chennai at the Saidapet Court. It has come in connection to a case that alleged Lingusamy failed to repay the debt.

The judgment has garnered a lot of attention and has now become the talk of the town. According to reports, N. Lingusamy was planning to produce a movie in 2014 starring Karthi and Samantha in lead roles. In order to produce the movie, Lingusamy's own company Thirupathi Brothers gathered Rs. 1.03 crore as debt from PVP Capital but the movie did not develop any further from there.

However, Lingusamy failed to repay the money to PVP Capital due to which the company approached the Chennai High Court to file a case against the esteemed director. In this petition that had been filed, PVP Capital had claimed that N. Lingusamy failed to repay the debt that he owes them but has been making other movies nevertheless. After hearing the matter, the High Court ordered the director to repay the debt to the respective people. It has been reported that based on the court order, the director has given a cheque for Rs 1.03 crore to the debtor.

After acquiring a cheque, PVP Capital deposited it in a bank only to find that the director's account did not have sufficient funds to clear the transaction as the cheque eventually bounced. With the bounced cheque, PVP Capital had filed a case against N. Lingusamy in Saidapet Court and the case was going on for several months.

On Monday, the Saidapet Court delivered its verdict where it officially sentenced N. Lingusamy to a six-month prison sentence for the failure to payment of the debt he owed and for producing a false cheque instead of a valid one. The reports say that along with Lingusamy, his brother has also got the same prison sentence. Sources say that Lingusamy and his brother have decided to go for an appeal and have started the formalities.

N. Lingusamy has been active in the industry for nearly three decades and is very well known for his directional works. Some of his movies include Run, Sandakozhi, Paiyaa, Vettai, Anjaan, and The Warriorr.
