Dhanush going the Simbu route?
Simbu is in need of a super hit flick. For some reason his mass flicks are just not doing the trick. His silver screen competitor Dhanush however, is having it good – giving at least one hit per year. Nevertheless, when it comes to rocking the scene with some kick-ass numbers, Simbu is the topper. Ever since the smash hit 'Loosu Penne' (thanks to Yuvanshankar Raja), STR has been coming out with similar quirky numbers and the youngsters just love it! The casual and crude lyrics certainly appeal to the masses. His latest album Osthe has one such song too – 'Sweet Pondati'! The lyrics, obviously the handiwork of STR are simple and fun. And Thaman’s tune is simple and catchy. While 'Kalasala' (in the voice of L.R. Eeshwari and Vijay T. Rajendran) is the hero of the album, Sweet Pondati is also quite a hit thanks to STR’s contribution.
What’s interesting is that Dhanush seems to have caught on to the trend. The Mayakkam Enna album has a similar song 'Oda Oda Oda' penned and sung by Dhanush. And now the song leaked from 3 that titled 'Why this kolaveri', which is also written and sung by Dhanush himself, appears to be in the same genre. Looks like the reticent Dhanush has taken a fancy to writing and singing, like his silver screen rival!
