Arun Vijay's Yaanai has got its release date and the official announcement on the release plans was made this evening (Feb 27). This Arun Vijay starrer directed by Hari will be releasing in theatres on May 6 as a summer treat for the fans. Arun Vijay took to his official Twitter page to make the announcement with a new poster. Sharing the poster, Arun Vijay tweeted, "It's confirmed!! #Yaanai in theatres from May 6th!!". Kamal Haasan's Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal are slated to release a week before and it is going to be interesting to see how these films balance out. Yaanai will be Arun Vijay's first release of 2022.

Yaanai will be Hari's next directorial venture after the underwhelming Saamy Square and the star commercial filmmaker would be looking forward to delivering a solid comeback with this one. Yaanai has music composed by GV Prakash and two of his songs that have been released so far have got a favourable response from the audience. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead in this action entertainer, marking her second outing with Arun Vijay after Mafia: Chapter One. KGF fame Garuda Ram plays the antagonist in the film and the stunt scenes between Arun Vijay and Garuda Ram are said to be one of the main highlights of the movie.

Apart from the main leads, Yaanai has a bunch of talented actors playing pivotal roles - Radikaa Sarathkumar, Samuthirakani, Thalaivasal Vijay, Imman Annachi, Ammu Abhirami, Yogi Babu, Pugazh, Rajesh, Jayapalan, Bose Venkat, Rama, Aishwarya, and others. Produced by Drum Sticks Productions, Yaanai has cinematography handled by Gopinath and editing by Anthony. Yaanai will be a refreshing film of sorts as it has been a long time since we saw Arun Vijay in a full-fledged rural film.
