This year started off on an underwhelming note with regards to cinema as theatres across the country functioned only with 50% occupancy due to the third wave of Covid-19. Only small scale films released during the festive occasion of Pongal, an occasion that usually witnesses the release of big-league movies. However, the situation has now changed for the benefit of the industry and the next two-three months are going to be a golden dream phase for the South Indian cinema, especially Tamil. Looking at the lineup of movies for the next three months, one can confidently say that the fans are in for some solid treat like never before.

We have a big star film releasing every 2 weeks and it is sure to keep the film buffs excited. This has not been the case usually and we probably get a big star film once in two months. However, the Covid-19 has made the impossible turn possible. Also, February - March is considered to be the weakest months in the trade, but we have already got Valimai which is minting money at the box office. Talking about this dream phase of South cinema, here is what the lineup of movies look like:

Feb 10 - Mahaan (Chiyaan Vikram) (already released)
Feb 24 - Valimai (Ajith Kumar) (already released)
March 10 - Etharkkum Thunindhavan (Suriya)
March 11 - Radhe Shyam (Prabhas)
March 25 - RRR (Jr NTR - Ram Charan - Rajamouli)
April 14 - Beast (Thalapathy Vijay)
April 14 - KGF 2 (Yash)
April 28 - Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal (Vijay Sethupathi - Nayanthara - Samantha)
April 28 (tentative) - Vikram (Kamal Haasan)
May 12 - Sarkaru Vaari Paata (Mahesh Babu)
May 12 (tentative) - Don (Sivakarthikeyan)
May 26 (tentative) - Cobra (Chiyaan Vikram)

Wait! The list is not yet over. There are several other biggies that are yet to confirm their release plans including the likes of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, Silambarasan TR's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Dhanush's Maaran, and more. All these films will release in the next three months of time and this is something that is sure to keep the cinephiles and theatre exhibitors excited. We may not witness a similar occasion like this anymore, so get your movie plans sorted for the next 100 days!
