Mani Ratnam's epic drama, Ponniyin Selvan is getting ready and the post production works are happening in full swing at various places. Ponniyin Selvan has been made as a two-part film and the first part, PS - 1 will hit the screens on September 30, 2022. The official announcement on the release date was made a few days back and it made the fans super excited. A.R.Rahman is currently working on the background score of the film and he shared some interesting tidbits about the process, while talking in a recent interview. Talking to a FM channel, Rahman revealed that the background score of Ponniyin Selvan recently happened at Dubai in Rahman's newly launched recording studio, Firdaus.

Talking about it, Rahman said, "Until last week, Mani sir was here in Dubai and we worked on the background score of some of the portions of Ponniyin Selvan. I called him to Dubai and he instantly came over. There was a golf court nearby and I thought he would go there, but he didn't. It looks like he is serious about completing the movie as soon as possible". Well, interesting right?. All the fans are eagerly looking forward to Rahman's work in the film and one can be sure that it will be nothing short of a musical treat. Ponniyin Selvan features an ensemble star cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles while Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vikram Prabhu, Arjun Chidambaram, Mohan Raman, and others play pivotal roles. Chiyaan Vikram plays the character of Aditya Karikalan, while Ravi and Karthi would be seen essaying Ponniyin Selvan and Vanthiya Thevan respectively. Trisha plays Kundhavai while Aishwarya Rai will be seen portraying the grey-shaded Nandhini character.
