The much-awaited character posters for ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: Part One have been unveiled on Wednesday giving us our first visual glimpse at the lead stars in the upcoming epic historical fiction film. Jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies banners, the film being adapted into two installments based on acclaimed Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name will be releasing worldwide on September 30. Featuring music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, the first look posters for 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character from Ponniyin Selvan: Part One show them at their royal elegant best. 

Although the Ponniyin Selvan: Part One character posters don't reveal the names of the stars in the film, fans have deduced their roles based on each of their looks. Below is each actor's PS: 1 poster and their character's names:

Apart from the five actors forming the core cast of Ponniyin Selvan: Part One, the film also includes Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Jayachithra, Rahman, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakamanu, Vijay Yesudas, Lal, Nasser, Kishore, Nizhalgal Ravi, Riyaz Khan, Mohan Ram, Arjun Chidambaram, Vinodhini, Balaji Sakthivel and Parthiban among others in pivotal roles.

Ponniyin Selvan has a screenplay has been written by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan, and Kumaravel, with cinematography by Ravi Varman, production design by 'Thota' Tharani, and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Reputed Tamil writer Jeyamohan has penned the dialogues for the film, while the lyrics are written by Elango Krishnan, Kabilan, Siva Ananth and Krithika Nelson. Ponniyin Selvan is also expected to showcase spectacular action scenes, which have been overseen by Sham Kaushal, Dhilip Subbarayan, and Kecha Kampakdee, while Brinda is the dance choreographer, followed by Eka Lakhani for the costume designs and make-up by Vikram Gaikwad.
