Leading Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who has been in the UK for nearly a month shooting for his upcoming film Cinderella, flew back to Mumbai on Monday morning. According to latest reports, the actor's mother Aruna Bhatia has been admitted to Mumbai's Hiranandani Hospital owing to her deteriorating health. The Hindustan Times has reported that Akshay's mother has not been keeping well and is in the intensive care unit (ICU). The report also says, "The actor's mom has been unwell for a few days and is in the ICU at Mumbai's Hiranandani Hospital. Akshay is extremely attached to his mother and could not stay away from her while she's not well, so he decided to fly back to India in a sudden decision."

Hindustan Times further states, "Even as he has flown back to be with mom, he has told his producers to carry on shooting with scenes that do not require his presence. All other work commitments of his also continue. He has always believed that work must go on, despite any personal challenges." Last year, Akshay shared an emotional post about spending time with his mother during the shooting of his film Bell Bottom in London. At the time, Akshay said, "Juggled shoot to spend a few days with mom in London. No matter how busy you are with life and growing up, don’t forget they are also growing old...so spend time with them while you still can."

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has several films lined up ahead among which include Atrangi Re with two-time National Award-winning actor Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. He will also be seen in the action film, Bachchan Pandey, including the Prithviraj Chauhan biopic, followed by Sooryavanshi, which is set in the Rohit Shetty cop universe. Akshay Kumar, whose last release was the espionage thriller, Bell Bottom, with Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Vaani Kapoor, had also announced projects under the titles Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Cinderella and OMG – Oh My God! 2.
