Mani Ratnam's magnum opus is gearing up for its grand audio launch which is to be held at The Nehru Indoor Stadium on September 6. The official trailer of the film is expected to release on that very same way as well which has got the fans super ecstatic for what's to come. 

Ahead of the grand audio and trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan: 1 aka PS1, the makers of the highly anticipated film have released actress Aishwarya Lekshmi's first look from the upcoming magnum opus. She will be paired opposite Jayam Ravi's character Arulmozhivarman, and would be essaying the character Samudrakumari Poonguzhali in this Mani Ratnam directorial. The character is a fan favorite among all those who read the Ponniyin Selvan novel as she is adored for her beauty and brains.  

The makers of PS1 announced this via Lyca Productions official Twitter handle. Sharing the motion poster, they wrote, "Soft as the wind, mighty as the ocean Meet #AishwaryaLekshmi as Samudrakumari Poonguzhali! Ponniyin Selvan: I is an upcoming Tamil period film directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under the banners of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions respectively. The film stars an stallar ensemble cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R. Parthiban. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography handled by Ravi Varman, editing done by A. Sreekar Prasad and production design by Thota Tharani.

The film was originally intended to be a standalone film but it was later split into two parts. The film is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name. The first part of PS is scheduled to be have a worldwide theatrical release on 30 September 2022 in both standard and IMAX format.
